A growing number of Portland area minority and women start-ups are disrupting high-growth industries; despite being disconnected from the existing startup ecosystem. The Bridge will be a co-working SPACE devoted to helping these entrepreneurs connect, convene, and collaborate with an end goal of growing more successful minority and women owned firms in Portland. This will happen in a PLACE that has always been a culturally diverse foundation of PDX, the SOUL District. The SOUL District is working to help The Bridge find a place to call home in 2016.
A whiteboard pitching event for Portland area based African-American startups from all industries. The purpose of this event is to give black founders a platform to showcase their entrepreneurial talent. The first event was held on July 23, 2015 where six founders presented their ideas. Cash prizes were given to the three winning founders. The SOUL District plans to sponsor additional Pitch Black events in 2016, and to increase the cash prizes available to $10K. #pitchblack
